[WATCH/LGBTQ] It Gets Better – Royal Canadian Mounted Police (BC)
The RCMP is the latest group to create a video in the “It Gets Better” theme — aimed primarily at youth. Championed by the Surrey RCMP Youth Unit, the 20 participants taped interviews in the summer of 2012. The video was finalized, by BC RCMP Multi-media services in the fall of 2012.
The video features adults who share their stories of their struggles, with the aim of building a bridge of understanding for youth undergoing similar experiences. Each of the participants tell moving and candid stories of their doubts, fears, and struggles, and their eventual joy of knowing that life, indeed, does get better.
Support for the project was received from police officers and civilian employees across the Lower Mainland of British Columbia including Surrey, Burnaby, UBC, Richmond, the Integrated Homicide Investigations Team, BC RCMP Major Crime, and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit — BC (CFSEU-BC).
While their individual stories vary the messages are personal, powerful and inspiring.

[WATCH/LGBTQ2] It Could Happen To You #EqualLoveEqualRights
This has to be one of the most heart wrenching, yet inspiring videos I have seen, there is no way I couldn’t post it. I have been a regular reader of iMusicDaily for years, but had idea all of this was going on behind the scenes when Tom passed away. My heart aches for Shane and everyone out there who has ever had to deal with a similar situation. Such a horrendous experience. Thank you for talking Shane, people are most definitely listening.
Please visit the links below and show your support. #EqualLoveEqualRights
It has been said that sharing personal stories is one of the most effective ways to change people’s hearts and minds. This is my story and I hope you are inspired to share it with others.

WHY did we choose PFLAG? And why is this organization so important?
In a nutshell: It goes back to my own past with coming out and the struggles I had with myself & my family back in 2007-2008. Back then their weren’t many resources available. It’s funny to think back that watching a soap opera (As the World Turns) on Youtube was my resource to coming out to myself, then eventually to friends & family (watch video below). I shed some tears with my mom over this video. It was one of the ways I used to help her understand.
Now, PLFAG(2009) amongst many other organizations such as the Trevor Project is now available for young LGBTQ folks & their families. All of these resources were posted on www.clublavish.ca when we launched our own ‘It Gets Better’ street campaign back in 2010. With all the resources, support & organizations out there; it is so much easier for young folks to COME OUT & start living and stop hiding (which is very emotionally overbearing).
PFLAG Canada is Canada’s only national organization that helps all Canadians who are struggling with issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. PFLAG Canada supports, educates and provides resources to parents, families, friends and colleagues with questions or concerns, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “PFLAG Canada is there when it seems no-one else is.” LEARN MORE>>
